Biography of Leila Marie Badran, Founder and Director
Leila Marie Badran, Head of Little
Flower Nursery School in Mamaroneck, New York brings to Little Flower more
than twenty years experience in early childhood education. She founded Little Flower Nursery School to establish
in Westchester an excellent early childhood education firmly grounded in Christian
values. She developed two outstanding and nurturing early childhood programs in
Manhattan at York Avenue Preschool and
Kindergarten, where she was the Principal and at
the Lycée Français de New York, where for nearly fourteen years she was the Director of the Early
Childhood Program in charge of early childhood admissions. At both schools, the
enrollment tripled within two years. Leila credits the success of the schools
to dynamic team work, in-depth knowledge of child development and early
childhood curriculum and excellent certified and dedicated teachers.
Earlier, Leila taught at the Lycée and at the Memorial
Montessori School in New
Rochelle. She worked for
the United States Agency for International Development, in education and
directed a Headstart
program in New York City. With over 20 years experience
in American and international education and business, school administration and
admissions, Leila has worked with educational teams and families to raise
instructional and administrative standards, establish school policies, develop
curriculum. She is fluent in both
English and French and has been an invited speaker and panelist for the New
York State Department of Education and has participated regularly at educational
and cultural conferences in the United States, Canada and Europe.
Leila is licensed permanently as a School District Administrator, as a
School Administrator and Supervisor, and Teacher (N-6). She
also holds the advanced degree of Professional Diploma in Administration and
Supervision and a Master’s of Science in Teaching, from Fordham University, at Lincoln Center. Leila obtained a B.A. in Religious Studies from the College of New Rochelle and graduated from the Convent of
the Sacred Heart, which she
attended from Kindergarten. She was awarded a fellowship from Johns Hopkins University, School of International Studies and is a member of Phi Delta Kappa International. She has also been an active member of the Independent Schools Admissions Association of Greater New York (ISAAGNY), Educational Records Bureau (ERB) and Parents League. Recently, Leila
Marie has served as a volunteer for artistic and cultural projects held at Grounds for Sculpture in Princeton, NJ. She has
also served as a catechist for seven years.
Except for some years in Washington, D.C., New Jersey and abroad, Leila Marie Badran has resided in New Rochelle since 1966.
